How to get from Maracay to Choroní:

bmw7With private transportation:

In Maracay, follow the signs “Choroní” or “Avenida las Delicias”. At the end of Avenida Las Delicias, continue the road leading you into National Park “Henri Pittier”. The narrow curved road climbs upto “La Cumbre”, the highest part of this journey. After this point, the road descents, passing several small villages, until you will reach the village of Choroní. Passing through the village of Choroní you will get to Puerto Colombia. Entering Puerto Colombia, you will pass the new busterminal. After the terminal take the first to the left, entering a sandy road (on the corner posada Pittier). Then you’ll take the first road to the right (on the corner posada Del Sol). After about 75 meters, on your left hand side, is our main entrance.

bus_mhl2 By bus, from Maracay:

From the bus-terminal in Maracay (“Terminal del Occidente”) you can take a bus directly to Choroní. These busses go as far as the bus-terminal of Puerto Colombia. You will have to walk further down the road. After the terminal take the first to the left, entering a sandy road (on the corner posada Pittier). Then you’ll take the first road to the right (on the corner posada Del Sol). After about 75 meters, on your left hand side, is our main entrance.

taxi3 By taxi, “por puesto”, from Maracay:

In the street behind of Maracay’s bus-terminal, you can find a taxi stand, especially for Choroní. They are so-called “por puesto” (per seat). This means they will wait for 4 passengers to fill up the taxi. If you desire, you can go with less people in the car, but in that case the passengers present will have to pay for the seat of the missing passenger(s).
Normally the ride goes as far as the bus-terminal in Puerto Colombia. If you ask the driver to take you to the posada, he probably will do so, without additional cost.

If you are already in the centre of Puerto Colombia:

You will have to walk back until you reach the Guardia Nacional, and just before the Guardia Nacional, make a right turn entering a sandy road. Then turn left at the first road. After that, take the second road to the right, where at the end you’ll see the sign of posada El Ancla. At El Ancla, take a left turn, and after about 30 meters, on your right hand side, you’ll find our main entrance.
