The nearest airport to Choroní is Valencia (Aeropuerto Internacional “Arturo Michelena”), which is located just outside the city. By taxi it takes about 2½ hours to get to Choroní. International flights to Miami, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and Bogotá. Airport code: VLN.

From airport Maiquetia to Caracas / Maracay / Choroní :

Maracay is located about 110 Km west of Caracas, and Choroní 50 Km north of Maracay.

Bus

From the airport, you can take a bus to Caracas. Busses leave in front of the domestic terminal, which is right next to the international terminal. You’ll have to get a bus to bus-terminal “La Bandera” in Caracas, which is an overcrowded place where you need to be extra alert on your personal belongings. From “La Bandera” busses leave frequently to Maracay (2 hours). The bus will take you to the bus-terminal in Maracay, from where you can either take a bus or taxi to Choroní. Busses leave from inside the terminal, while taxi’s leave from outside. The bus trip from Maracay to Choroní / Puerto Colombia takes about 2 hours.

Taxi

From the airport, you can take a taxi either to Caracas, or directly to Choroní. If you decide to take a taxi directly, it is worthwhile to have us make arrangements with the taxi company in Choroní, to have you picked up, as the airport taxis are more expensive.

In Maracay, just behind the bus-terminal you can find a taxi stop which is marked “Puerto Colombia”. From here you can get reasonably cheap to Choroní and Puerto Colombia. The taxi will charge per person, and wait until 4 passengers are present. The taxi-trip from Maracay to Choroní / Puerto Colombia takes about 1¼ hours.

From airport Valencia to Maracay / Choroní :

Valencia is located about 46 Km west of Maracay, and Choroní 50 Km north of Maracay.

Bus

From the airport, you can go by bus to bus-terminal “Big Low” in Valencia. Get on a bus in front of the airport-terminal, and ask the driver to notify you where to get off the bus, to take another bus to “Big Low”. From “Big Low” busses leave frequently to Maracay (1 hour). The bus will take you to the bus-terminal in Maracay, from where you can take either a bus or taxi to Choroní. Busses leave from inside the terminal, while taxi’s leave from outside. The bus-trip from Maracay to Choroní / Puerto Colombia takes about 2 hours.
